The metal element that affects the corrosion resistance of vacuum components is chromium. When the chromium content in the vacuum components reaches 10.5%, its atmospheric corrosion resistance increases significantly. This value is also a bottleneck, even if the chromium content is higher than 10.5%, the corrosion resistance does not increase significantly. The reason why chromium can affect the corrosion resistance of vacuum components is that when steel is alloyed with chromium, a tightly adhered chromium-rich oxide protective surface is formed on the surface of vacuum components, which can prevent further oxidation of vacuum components. . Even if this protective layer is damaged, it can repair itself and play a protective role again. Therefore, the vacuum components we use are usually added with chromium, so that the content reaches 10.5%, to achieve corrosion resistance.
